Jacob Greer - Brass Caption Head

Mr. Jacob Greer grew up on the east coast of the United States. He moved every couple years during his childhood and attended several different middle and high schools- but he was always able to find common ground in a new place through his love of music and performance.

Mr. Greer attended The University of Utah and received a degree in Music Education. During his time at the U, he had the privilege of studying under trumpet professors’ Dr. Seretta Hart and Dr. Peyden Shelton. He was also a member of the Pride of Utah Marching band, where he held leadership positions and was a Drum Major in 2018.

In 2017 he marched with the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Greer is currently on staff as a brass technician at the Cascades, in order to give back to the organization and teach the upcoming generations of musicians.

In addition to his marching career, Mr. Greer was a member of the University of Utah Wind Ensemble and Philharmonia. In 2018, he had the pleasure of recording and giving the World Premier of David Maslanka’s 10th Symphony. He was also a member of The University of Utah Trumpet Ensemble, which placed in the quarter finals (2018) and semi-finals (2019) in the National Trumpet Competition.

Mr. Greer is a freelance trumpet player with a large private studio servicing various senior and junior high schools around Utah. He is also an avid fan of golf- so if he’s not teaching you can probably find him out on the course.
