Bridgett Johnson - Woodwind Staff

Ms. Bridgett Johnson has always had a love of music, and in 7th grade she started playing the flute. In 10th grade, she switched to the bassoon in the wind ensemble and baritone in marching band. Ms. Johnson fondly remembers the four years she spent in the Mountain Crest Mustang Marching Band, competing in the largest classification in Utah. During her time there, she had the opportunity to represent the state of Utah in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC. 

In 2014, Ms. Johnson began her education at the University of Utah. She had many excellent mentors and private teachers, including Dr. Mark Ely, Dr. Jared Rawlings, Dr. Jessica Napoles, Dr. Nicole Robinson, and Lori Wike. She enjoyed performing with many different ensembles, including the Marching Utes, where she was section leader for two years. Additionally, she was funded to research, write, and present a Critical Review of Early Childhood Music Education. In 2018, Ms. Johnson student taught at Riverview Junior High in Murray, Utah with the incredible Mrs. Kathie Webster. 

In May of 2018, Ms. Johnson graduated from the University of Utah and accepted her first teaching job at Spanish Fork Junior High School, where she taught Band, Percussion, Guitar, and History of Rock and Roll, and served as assistant director of the SFHS Marching Dons until 2023. This coming year Ms Johnson will start her tenure at West Jordan Middle School where she will teach Band, Percussion and Orchestra.

She is passionate about her career and cares for each of her students. Ms. Johnson strongly believes that music is for everyone and that participating in music can help students develop into critical thinkers, hard workers, and create positive change in their communities.
