Aimee has had a love of music since a very young age. Her older sister, a flautist and pianist, was one of her biggest influences as a young child. Her example encouraged Aimee to begin piano lessons when she was 8. She remembers feeling a strong desire to express herself and release music within her but felt restricted by her lack of knowledge and inability to play. Another incredible example was her late grandmother, who was one of her several piano teachers.

In 5th grade, Aimee had the opportunity to take clarinet lessons. Over time, she fell in love with it. In 6th grade, she took up playing the Tenor Saxophone in Jazz Band and continued throughout high school. Her first marching experience was in 9th grade when she learned parade marching. In 10th grade, she began field marching at Norfolk High School in Nebraska. Her remaining high school years were spent at Elko High School in Nevada, from which she graduated in 2013. She studied and performed in bands under the direction of Walt Lovell. The Elko High Jazz Band experienced performing with jazz musicians Eric Marienthal, Karen Greene, Allen Vizzutti, and others in its local Jazz Festivals as well as in the Estes Park Jazz Festival. One of Aimee's highlight high school marching band experiences was competing in the Fiesta Bowl in the fall of 2012.

Aimee’s passion for music only grew. In 2019, she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho, studying with clarinet professor Dr. Adam Ballif. At BYU-I, Aimee was an active participant in the clarinet studio, Symphony Band under the direction of Dr. Diane Soelberg, Symphony Orchestra with director Dr. Robert Tueller, and Chamber Winds under the instruction of Elizbeth Crawford. While in Symphony Orchestra, she had the opportunity to perform with Brian Stokes Mitchell in BYU-Idaho’s 2018 Christmas concert. Outside of school, she performed on the clarinet a number of times with the Rexburg Children’s Choir, including a performance with Jenny Oaks Baker and her children. Aimee concluded her studies as a student teacher at Mountain Ridge High School in the fall of 2019 with James Densley as her mentor. While student teaching, she became a staff member for the marching band and loved it!

Outside of marching band, Aimee teaches private lessons. She began teaching piano lessons in 2008, and in her final years of high school, she added a clarinet student to her studio. She continued teaching young clarinetists while she was in college and resumed building her clarinet studio upon moving to Herriman. In her career, she loves to see the joy of success in those she teaches. She hopes to be able to help musicians to improve their craft, express themselves, and experience the deep, magical feelings that playing music elicits.

Aimee currently lives in Woods Cross, UT with her husband Cody and her two young children, Aiden and Brielle. She enjoys reading, running, attempting to grow plants, and spending time with friends and family.

Aimee has truly enjoyed her experience with the MRHS Marching Sentinels and staff and looks forward to making more incredible memories!
